Healthy eating

Mrs Barrs visited Reception this afternoon to talk to us about being healthy. We came up with some good ideas about being healthy and impressed Mrs Barrs with our knowledge. We drew our own 'healthy lunchbox' and labelled the food items.

Shared learning

This afternoon year 3 children came down to reception to share their Easter stories with us. The year 3s worked very hard learning about Easter and were keen to share what they had learnt. We thoroughly enjoyed having them visit us and we hope to go and share our learning with them soon.

Independent learning

One of our independent learning challenges today was to create a repeating pattern in our maths area. Here is a fantastic example.

RE Good Friday

Today in RE we have been learning about Good Friday. We talked about why it is know as Good Friday and the class came up with some excellent ideas;'it's not good that Jesus died but he helps us and God helps us too. We remember him when we eat hot cross buns and they are good.'

We did some art based on Good Friday.

Planting trees

This afternoon every reception child has planted their own tree in our school grounds. This is part of our ongoing project to develop our outside learning environment. We used bamboo sticks to help the trees grow upright and a plastic expanding tubes to protect the trees whilst they become big and strong.

Maundy Thursday and squeaky clean feet!

In RE this half term we will be learning about the meaning behind Easter.

Our first lesson was about Maundy Thursday and the Last Supper. We have learnt about Jesus and his disciples at his last meal.
We all talked about who our friends are and what it means to be a good friend, Judas betrayed Jesus and we know that it's not right to lie about anyone to get your own way. Before the Last Supper Jesus washed the feet of his disciples to show them that everyone is equal and even when he is not there they need to take care of each other. At first the children were reluctant to wash each other's feet but at soon as they realised the favour would be returned they got stuck in. They all enjoyed caring for their friends and show gratitude when they had their feet washed.
